Planning an in-home photo session to document your sweet new addition?
Here are some tips from a central Kentucky photographer who loves to feature your home and family during a new season.
1. Tidy but don’t stress!
Focus on the spaces you want to highlight: your bedroom, living room, kids’ rooms, or kitchen. Instead of trying to deep clean your entire home, just focus on these areas.
2. Think about natural light.
Windows are your best friends during an in-home session. Open the blinds and curtains to see what the light looks like coming in. Don’t have a great option for natural light in the room you’d like to use? No worries. I bring lighting equipment to help achieve the look you want.
3. Think neutral & comfortable outfits.
You want to feel cozy & comfortable in your home. Let your photos reflect this. I recommend sticking with neutral colors with texture that compliment the colors of your home.
4. Temperature check!
Be sure your home is a comfortable temperature for all your family members. Little ones & newborns are more comfortable when warm & cozy.
5. Time for connection; don’t focus on posing.
An in-home session is an intimate time to showcase your family just being your family. I’ll help guide you with this, but think of things that are important to your family. Do you all love baking cookies together? Reading books? Playing toys?
6. Top advice: be flexible.
Use this time to let your kids be kids. We can take breaks and follow their lead. Don’t try to force the fun. Be prepared to be flexible & just enjoy your time together.
